B Visas

USA Vistor Visa

Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence.

Visitor B visas are nonimmigrant visas for people who wish to enter the United States temporarily for business (B-1) or for pleasure or medical treatment (B-2). This type of visa is usually issued for a period of up to six months, although the period may be shorter or longer depending on the circumstances. People who wish to stay in the U.S. for longer than six months must obtain a different type of visa.

People who plan to travel to the U.S. for business or pleasure are generally required to obtain a B-1 or B-2 visa. This type of visa is granted to people who are traveling to the U.S. for business-related activities such as conferences, meetings, lectures, consultations, or training. People who are traveling for pleasure may use a B-2 visa to stay in the U.S. for tourism, visiting family or friends, or for medical treatment.

Here are some examples of activities permitted with a visitor visa:

B-1 Business Visa:

-Consult with business associates

-Attend a scientific, educational, professional, or business convention or conference

-Settle an estate

-Negotiate a contract

B-2 Tourist and Visitor Visa:

-Participation by amateurs in musical, sports, or similar events or contests, if not being paid for participating

-Enrollment in a short recreational course of study, not for credit toward a degree (for example, a two-day cooking class while on vacation)
