Livia Santoro is an Associate Attorney at Kerosky, Purves & Bogue LLP. She was born and raised in Italy, where she received her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Rome. Before moving to the United States, Livia worked many years in Rome as an attorney at a law firm specializing in asylum and immigration law, as legal consultant of the Association for Juridical Studies on Immigration (ASGI) and as legal trainer for the non-profit organization Save the Children. Livia also interned at the Italian Embassy in Honduras, and obtained the recognition of her J.D. from the Spanish Ministry of Education. Livia obtained her Master degree at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, with specialization in International Law and Human Rights. During her master, she participated in the Refugee & Human Rights Clinic and volunteered at Center for Gender and Refugee Studies (CGRS), and at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area. Before joining KPB, Livia was an attorney project with the NGO European Lawyers in Lesvos (ELIL), providing pro bono legal assistance to asylum seekers in Moria Refugee Camp in Lesvos, Greece. She is admitted to practice law in New York, Italy and Spain. She is a native Italian speaker, fluent in English and Spanish and has a good knowledge of Portuguese.
